Iron infusion IV (intravenous) therapy is a safe and effective medical treatment used to restore iron levels in individuals diagnosed with iron deficiency. It is typically recommended when oral iron is not tolerated, not effective, or when a more direct and medically controlled approach to iron replacement is required.
At 413 Medical Aesthetics, iron infusion therapy is delivered within a physician and physician assistant–led medical model of care. We provide an alternative access point for patients who may be experiencing delays in hospital-based treatment. All care is delivered under appropriate medical oversight, clinical protocols, and supervision. Iron administration via IV bypasses the digestive system, resulting in more efficient absorption and more predictable replenishment of iron stores compared to oral supplementation.
We commonly use modern formulations such as Monoferric (iron isomaltoside), which may allow iron stores to be restored in a single treatment session. Infusions are administered over approximately 30 to 45 minutes, followed by a mandatory 30-minute observation period to monitor for any adverse reactions. Patients are discharged once clinically stable and able to resume normal activities.
Suitability for iron infusion therapy is determined through medical assessment and physician diagnosis of iron deficiency.
Please Note: Your physician will arrange repeat bloodwork 4–6 weeks after the infusion.
Iron Infusion Therapy is an intravenous (IV) treatment that delivers iron directly into the bloodstream to help restore healthy iron levels. It is commonly recommended for individuals with iron deficiency, low ferritin, or iron deficiency anemia who are unable to meet their needs through oral supplements alone.
Iron Infusion Therapy may be a good option for individuals who have been diagnosed with iron deficiency or low ferritin, experience heavy menstrual bleeding or ongoing fatigue, are pregnant or postpartum, have a history of anemia, have digestive conditions that affect iron absorption, cannot tolerate oral iron supplements, or follow a vegan or vegetarian diet.
Iron Infusion Therapy may help improve energy, mental clarity, physical stamina, and healthy red blood cell production by restoring iron levels. Many individuals also experience relief from symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, headaches, and hair shedding associated with iron deficiency.
Treatment times vary depending on the prescribed dose and your individual treatment plan, but most Iron Infusion appointments take between 30 minutes and two hours. During your appointment, you can relax comfortably while your treatment is administered by our experienced medical team.
When administered by qualified medical professionals, Iron Infusion Therapy is generally considered safe for individuals with iron deficiency. Before treatment, our team will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms, and determine whether Iron Infusion Therapy is an appropriate option for you.
